Let’s Be Blunt….

The BLUNT AMENDMENT - which piggy-backed on FLORIDA REPUBLICAN SENATOR MARCO RUBIO’S bill to “allow any employer to DENY birth control coverage if it runs counter to their (the employers) religious or moral beliefs” - was defeated in the Senate today by a LARGELY PARTY-LINE vote of 51-48.  ONLY ONE Republican Senator, Olympia Snowe of Maine, voted against the measure.

According to a New York Post article, “Under the Blunt amendment, not only would church-affiliated organizations such as Catholic hospitals, universities, schools and charities have been free to opt out of the coverage, ANY NON-RELIGIOUS employer with a moral objection would have qualified”! The amendment would also “have allowed such employers to REFUSE to cover ANY OTHER PREVENTIVE PROCEDURES required under the administration’s rule if they had a religious or moral objection.”

Let’s be blunt. This was just the LATEST Tea Partied Republican WAR on the President USING AND ABUSING women’s preventive health care and life-saving matters as collateral damage. If WE want a Congress that WORKS FOR women, children, workers’ rights, JOB opportunities, educational programs, senior citizens, minorities, college students, consumer protection services, active duty military personnel, veterans and the poor INSTEAD of working for health insurance, banking, oil, corporate, and religious zealot LOBBYISTS while they get wealthier and wealthier on OUR dime, WE HAVE GOT TO VOTE EVERY SINGLE TEA PARTIED/‘GROVERED’ REPUBLICAN OUT OF CONGRESS IN NOVEMBER, 2012!

Let’s be blunt. WE have got to vote in RECORD BREAKING numbers in November. No matter when you last voted, CHECK THE CURRENT VOTER REGISTRATION RULES IN YOUR STATE.  Make sure you have all the required documents NOW because TEA PARTIED REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS, LEGISLATORS AND ATTORNEY GENERALS in OVER THIRTY STATES have passed legislation to SUPPRESS your vote and CLOSE voter registration sites.  Join local voter registration drives; share new voter ID and registration information with members of your family, friends and members of your social networks. Escort your grandparents and young voting age relatives to registration sites. Hold fundraising drives to help the poor pay the POLL TAX Tea Partied Republican STATE OFFICIALS have imposed on constituents they were elected to serve instead of trample, AND VOTE THOSE STATE OFFICIALS OUT AS WELL!

Let’s be blunt. Tea Partied Republican elected officials’ NATION-WIDE BLIND AMBITION to defeat a President by dragging OUR nation to its knees MUST END!
