Npr.pr reported that George Zimmerman, "who says he killed unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin in self defense, has been arrested and will face a charge of second-degree murder" according to State Attorney Angela Corey, the special prosecutor investigating Martin's death.
In the words of civil rights leader Al Sharpton who spoke on behalf of Trayvon's parents, WE need to "remain peaceful as the investigation continues". Sharpton further stated that "we are NOT in the business of revenge. We are in the business of justice. We must make the justice system work." According to Trayvon's parents : "All we wanted was an arrest – nothing more, nothing less."
As we let justice run its course in the Trayvon Martin case, WE can focus on joining the BRADY CAMPAIGN which "opposes state laws or a national law pushed by the gun lobby to force law enforcement to allow virtually anyone to carry loaded hidden handguns in public". According to an article at www.stateline.org , here are just a handful of gun carry examples:
KANSAS Republican House majority members passed a bill last month to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry their weapons into ANY public building that doesn't have adequate security like metal detectors or security guards". VIRGINIA'S Republican lawmakers "repealed its statute that blocked residents from buying more than one gun a month unless they got dispensation from the police. SOUTH DAKOTA Republican lawmakers "ventured the farthest in removing gun restrictions this session by voting to get rid of concealed-carry permit requirements and allow ANY state resident over age 18 with a valid drivers' license to carry a concealed weapon without undergoing the background check now needed for a permit."
