- An article at usnews.com entitled Mitt Romney’s Lies by Robert Schlesinger reports that Romney repeatedly claims that during his Bain Capital days “net-net, we created over 100,000 jobs”. According to Schlesinger’s research the TRUTH is “it lacks the balancing context of how many jobs were DESTROYED by Bain. The article further states “as the Los Angeles Times reported in December, while Bain helped some companies grow, “Romney and his team also MAXIMIZED returns by FIRING workers, seeking GOVERNMENT subsides, and flipping companies quickly for LARGE profits. Sometimes Bain investors gained even when companies slid into bankruptcy.”

CREATION SUCCESSES
- According to Schlesinger’s Mitt Romney’s Lies research, Romney’s attacks on President Obama’s economic record are “NONSENSICAL” Schlesinger reports that in a Fox News interview, Romney made the BOLDFACE LIE that “Obama has lost 2 million jobs as president” . The TRUTH is “once Obama’s policies started to take effect, the trend turned. The country ADDED 3.2 million private sector jobs over the course of 22 STRAIGHT months of private sector growth.”
- A huffingtonpost.com article entitled Five Lies from Mitt Romney reported Romney’s statement that “Obamacare will kill 800,000 jobs.” The TRUTH “according to a study by an economist at Harvard is that “the Affordable Care Act will actually SAVE employers roughly $3,000 a year per employee in health care costs. Repealing the law, the study estimates, would cause FOUR MILLION JOB LOSSES by 2019. It’s repealing the law, not implementing it, that would kill jobs.”
- According to the hufingtonpost.com article entitled Five Lies from Mitt Romney, Romney lied that “three years ago, a newly elected President Obama told America that if Congress approved his plan to borrow nearly a trillion dollars, he would hold unemployment below eight percent.” The TRUTH is “no such promise was ever made, either by President Obama or ANY member of his administration.”

- According to an article at postbulletin.com entitled To Tell the Truth, Romney doesn’t by Eugene Robinson, Romney claims that “(Obama) went around the Middle East and apologized for America”. As reflected in Robinson’s research, The TRUTH is “two lies for the price of one”. Obama “did NOT, in fact , go around the Middle East, or anywhere else, apologizing for America. And he did, on many occasions, trumpet American greatness and exceptionalism.”

Rule in Michigan”, Romney, intentionally, MISLED a voter in Shelby
Township, Michigan about President Obama’s rule requiring insurers and
employers to provide contraception coverage to employees during a town
hall. Romney “grossly MISREPRESENTED the measure, claiming that under the
new requirement, the Catholic Church had to provide for insurance that
provided contraceptives, sterilization, and morning after pills to the
employees of the Church.” The TRUTH is “the original provision and the
modified language specifically EXCLUDES houses of worship and nonprofit
organizations that primarily employ people of the same faith from
providing birth control coverage.”
- According to the
huffingtonpost.com Five Lies from Mitt Romney
article, Romney stated that “the number one to cut is Obamacare. That
saves $95 billion a year.” The
TRUTH is “when Republicans introduced H.R. 2, the Repealing the
Job-Killing Health Care Law Act, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO)
sent House Speaker John Boehner a letter detailing what would happen if
the law was passed. As it turns
out, the CBO estimated that repealing the Affordable Care Act would
“INCREASE federal budget deficits over the 2012-2019 period by a total of
roughly $145 BILLION” In short, the Affordable Care Act will SAVE US MONEY
in the long run.” (I guess Boehner and

- A registerguard.com article entitled “Romney lies – a lot – about Obama’s record by Eugene Robinson reported a Romney website claim that “since President Obama assumed office three years ago, federal spending has accelerated at a pace without precedent in recent history”. The TRUTH is “spending has SLOWED markedly under Obama.” Robinson, also, quotes an analysis published by Market Watch, a financial news website owned by Dow Jones & Co. that compared the yearly growth of federal spending under presidents going back to Ronald Reagan. Market Watch’s analysis reflected that “there has been NO huge increase in spending under the current president, despite what you hear.”
- According to a huffingtonpost.com article entitled Five Lies from Mitt Romney, reporting on the above Romney lie, the TRUTH is “since Obama took office, federal spending has increased at an annualized rate of 1.4 percent, the LOWEST since the Korean War. For comparison, spending INCREASED around eight percent PER YEAR under President Bush. The article further states that “under Ronald Reagan, Romney’s proclaimed role model, it INCREASED around nine percent PER YEAR”
- According to the huffingtonposts.com Five Lies from Mitt Romney article, Romney stated that “He (Obama) has already raised taxes on millions of Americans, but he won’t stop there. He wants to raise taxes on millions more by taxing small business and job creators. According to the article, the TRUTH is “Obama ought to be better known for KEEPING TAXES LOW: The renewal of TWO STRAIGHT YEARS of a payroll tax holiday and the stimulus bill tax cuts ALL took place under Obama. It is true, however, that Obama is hoping to allow the Bush-era tax cuts to expire at the end of the year for wealthy Americans.” (If WE can vote out Tea Partied Republican Congressional ‘big tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations’ millionaires in November.)

Most of the job losses happened during the first few months, BEFORE his (Obama’s) legislation passed and took effect. The article also reports that ” an article in the Daily Beast's by Michael Tomasky estimated that “the country has actually GAINED 3.6 million jobs during Obama’s tenure.”
