Whether or not you agreed or
disagreed with Democratic candidates’ stands during CNN’s first 2016 Democratic Presidential Debate, you’ve
got to admit that in contrast to previous Republican candidates’ fear
mongering, mud slinging, Obama Bashing, free-for-all debate spectacles, the Democratic Debate
was quite refreshing!
At least we were provided an opportunity to witness a serious, informative, civil discourse regarding where Democratic candidates’
stand on issues that the majority of Americans actually care about -
including, but not limited to - income inequality, college affordability, gun
controls, immigration reform, institutional racism and dealing with climate
change.(See National Priorities Polling
Report link below.)
Here are a few debate topics that the spindetectives hope you will find particularly revealing.
The exposure
of the political ramifications of conservative Supreme Court
justices’ Citizens United decision which
opened the doors for a handful of the wealthiest Americans such as the Republican-backing Koch Brothers
and casino magnate, Sheldon Adelson, to control
elections and the subsequent governing practices of the candidates they elect to serve. The exposure, also,
points out how important it is to vote in
every election. Supreme Court justices serve for life and are nominated
by and voted upon by the presidential and congressional candidates others elect if WE don’t vote. (See Citizens United, Koch Brothers and Adelson
links below.)
How the NRA-controlled
gun industry is the only industry in
America that is not held to accountability and how WE have the power to turn
that around at the polls. (See NRA winning the influence battle over
gun control and Gotta Vote links below.)
How Republicans’
selective amnesia against big government
when it comes to assistance for the poor, college affordability, job creation,
stimulating the economy and the like contrasts Republicans’
push for government interference
regarding a woman’s right to choose. (See GOP renews funding fight against Planned
Parenthood link blow.)
The general consensus among Democratic candidates that black lives do matter particularly
when it comes to reforming
institutionalized racism within the criminal justice system wherein Blacks
are more likely than Whites to be killed, arrested and/or imprisoned for minor infractions or for the same crimes. (See
Racial Disparities in Criminal Justice and The Color of Justice links below.)
Democratic 2016 presidential
candidates' acknowledgement of the hard
fought battles President Obama has endured shielding the American people and government from unprecedented Republican obstructionism in order to deliver job creation,
economic stimulation, national security, affordable health care, deficit reductions, foreign oil dependence reductions and more. (See Republican obstructionism and Obama accomplishment
links below.)
Finally, and most importantly, how
7+ years of Republican
congressional and state level obstructionism
against making America even better can be stopped in its tracks if WE get out the vote for 2016, as well
as every other election cycle whether it is
local, national, midterm or genera!!
