Have you gotten wind about the Republican's latest repackaged Anti-Poverty Plan?
It's a coded bait and switch trick to dupe the public into voting for up and down ballot Tea Partied Republican candidates in November.
The key is to unlock and expose the code.
WE have the power to do it!
Let's begin...
It's a coded bait and switch trick to dupe the public into voting for up and down ballot Tea Partied Republican candidates in November.
The key is to unlock and expose the code.
WE have the power to do it!
Let's begin...
The Plan calls for “reform”.
In Republican Code, “reform” stands for cutting
services provided to children in households under the Supplemental Security
Income program which helps the aged, blind and disabled with little income and
cutting school lunch services for children who are poor.
The Plan calls for "more flexibility for state and local governments to improve federal welfare programs "
In Republican Code, "more flexibility for state and local governments" means continuing the current dismantling of
affordable health care and social services for the poor in Republican-led states.
The Plan calls for more "public-private partnerships."
In Republican Code, "more public-private partnerships" means handing over government assistance
programs to corporations to fill their corporate pockets on the backs of the middle class and the poor.
The Plan calls for more "oversight by Congress into dollars funneled to low-income Americans.
In Republican Code, “more oversight by Congress” means increasing the Republican Congress’ current control to obstruct and slash funding for public assistance to the infants,
children, families, the aged, and the disabled who live in poverty.
The Plan calls for a “change in the Pell Grant program”.
In Republican Code, a “change in the Pell Grant program” means making sure that the poor have little to no access to higher education
opportunities and are bankrupted with
college debt after graduation.
If you have any doubts about decoding the Republican Congress’ Anti-Poverty Plan, take a look at
what politicos in the Republican Congress and in
Republican-led states have done throughout
the past 7+ years to make the middle class poor and the poor poorer:
In the Republican Congress…
- Not one Republican lawmaker- including Paul Ryan - voted for the President’s Stimulus package to build up the economy, create jobs and repair our country’s infrastructure.
- Only one Republican congressman voted for the Affordable health Care Act which increased access to life-saving affordable health care for the middle class and the poor.
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues approved $9 billion in cuts to the food stamp program even as a record number of Americans live in poverty.
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues passed tax cuts for only the wealthy and corporations
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues imposed funding cuts on infrastructure repairs to roads and bridges.
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues blocked legislation to renew emergency unemployment insurance
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues refuse to legislate the Fair Minimum Wage Act
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues allowed part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance program which provides critical job training and worker assistance to expire.
- Paul Ryan and his Republican Colleagues walked away form a conference report to provide long-term highway funding.
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues walked away from extending the payroll tax cut.
- Paul Ryan and his Republican colleagues walked away from extending unemployment insurance for individuals and families who were put out of work from the Republican era Bush administration.
In Republican-led states…
- As Indiana Governor, former congressional rep and 2016 VI Pick, Mike Pence, signed a bill to stop local minimum wage increases in Indiana and pushed for the Republican-led government shut down costing taxpayers $24 billion while in Congress.
- Arizona Governor Jan Brewer proposed to “kick” 280,000 poverty stricken childless adults off the state’s Medicaid rolls in favor of tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.
- Florida Governor Rick Scott unveiled a $4.6 billion spending cut resulting in the direct loss of more than 8,000 jobs in order to hand over large areas of state services such as juvenile justice facilities, Medicaid and some hospitals to feed tax cuts for corporations.
- Michigan Governor Rick Synder called for $1.2 billion in cuts to schools, universities, local governments and other areas to feed tax cuts for corporations.
- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed Democrats’ plans to raise taxes on New Jersey millionaires in order to cut education funding, assistance to municipalities, and contributions to the state’s pension fund.
- Ohio Governor John Kasich killed Ohio’s federally-funded high-speed rail project costing badly-needed infrastructure investments; thousands of jobs and derailing millions of dollars in economic development in order to rule out tax increases for the wealthy and corporations.
- Texas Governor Rick Perry spent two years traveling around the country attacking the Obama Administration’s Stimulus Initiative ignoring his state’s education and child poverty budget woes in favor of tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.
- Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker joined Ohio Governor Kasich in cancelling a $800 million investment - fully funded by the federal government - in high speed rail costing a train manufacturer to leave the state costing thousands of jobs in favor of tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.
WE have the
power to stop Republican congressional lawmakers(???) and governors from making
the middle class poor and the poor poorer!
