Over the last six decades or so, history has tended to favor
Democratic presidents in terms of economic performance even under the Republican Blockade leveled against President Obama for the past 7+ years!. (See Republican Blockade links below.)
In terms of economic growth The U.S. economy has performed
better when the President of the United States is a Democrat rather than a
Republican,
The unemployment rate has been lower at the end of every Democrat’s tenure since Kennedy took
office in 1961,
Per-Person median household incomes are higher in blue states than in red states governed by Republican leadership.
The economy has grown faster under Democratic Presidents.
Income growth is faster and more equal under Democratic
presidents.
The real value of the minimum wage increased 16 cents a year
under Democrats, but decreased by 6 cents a year under Republicans.
The middle and working class have increasingly fallen behind
as the richest Americans have seized a larger share of income and wealth.
However, Income growth is faster and
more equal under Democratic presidents.
Note that Ronald Reagan is the only Republican president since Dwight
Eisenhower who lowered the unemployment rate. However, it came with a hefty price…
