Wake up everybody!

After going through a long, painful night of waking up every hour on the hour hoping that, by some miracle, the “too close for projection” results would reflect that the electoral map wouldn’t bloom red, reality sunk in.

It wasn’t until a friend reminded me about the lyrics from one of our favorite songs that I finally WOKE UP and gradually started to realize that it made no sense for me to mope around wallowing in WO is me!

I hope these two stanzas from that song will WAKE you up as well -

Wake Up Everybody

Wake up everybody no more sleepin' in bed
No more backward thinkin' time for thinkin' ahead
the world has changed so very much
From what it used to be
There is so much hatred, war and poverty

(Refrain)

The world won't get no better
If we just let it be
The world won't get no better
We gotta’ change it yeah,
Just you and me.

WE gotta' WAKE UP, but first - WE gotta’ get real -

WE put Republicans in the driver's seat at the congressional and state levels when WE stayed home in the 2010 Midterms and 2014 Midterms and that paved the way for a red state blow out in 2016!

Warm, fuzzy feelings about staying home or not casting a difficult vote because of a protest or social consciousness are noble ideas when jobs, affordable health care, mass deportation, equal pay for equal work, bigotry, racism, hatred and the long term fate of the Supreme Court are not on the table, but when those critical issues are on the table, WE gotta’ -

WAKE UP and vote!

Secondly, contrary to the gloating on Trump’s CNN and Fans of Xenophobia Cable News(?)   Campaign Headquarters -

Republicans were NOT given a mandate from the American people in the 2016 General Election because Hillary Clinton won the ever growing popular vote and only 50% of the Republican electorate and only 50% of the Democratic electorate actually voted!

The good news is that Republicans no longer have Obama to blame for their refusal to govern throughout the past 8 years with gridlock and obstruction against Obama’s American Jobs Act, his call for middle class economics, his request for legislation to have the wealthy and corporations share the tax burden, equal pay for equal work, college affordability, immigration reform and the like.

So -

Before President Obama’s 2011 American Jobs Act completely bites the dust,

Before affordable health care is reversed,

Before tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations are legislated to fall on the backs of the middle class and the poor,

Before Obama’s hard fought consumer protections are reversed,

Before Obama’s hard fought Wall Street reforms are reversed,

Before Obama's hard fought climate change initiatives are reversed,

Before Obama's hard fought immigration initiatives are reversed,

Before President Obama’s moderate Supreme Court Justice Nominee is ditched for a right wing activist, WE gotta’-

WAKE UP and mobilize until the polls open in 2018 to turn the Congress and states back to blue  like the Tea Party did  in turning the Congress and states red in 2010 and then march forward again to make the Trump/Pence ticket a one term presidential option in 2020!

In the meantime, here’s what WE can do in 5 simple steps:

STEP 1
Hold the Republican-controlled Congress accountable FROM NOW!

Contact Republicans in Congress at www.gop.gov/republicans.

Let each and every one of them know that if they reverse everything that has brought our country from the brink of total economic collapse, increased job growth, saved lives through affordable health care, saved our auto industry, provided consumer protections, put a cap on nuclear proliferation and more -

WE will do everything in our power to mobilize, expose and vote them out of office in the 2018 Midterms and 2020 General Election with no if's, and's or but's about it!

STEP 2
Track Republican congressional and state voting records at www.votesmart.com from NOW through 2020.

Then Email blast, Tweet, Reddit, Tumblr, Skype, You Tube, and Facebook the names of the elected officials, the state they represent and their voting record on all of your social networks!

STEP 3
S.O.S. - The future of the Supreme Court lies in OUR hands.  Currently, we have “the most conservative Supreme Court in history” which has eviscerated voting rights, backed racial and gender-based discrimination, handed over political control of our country in the hands of the wealthy, big corporations and more.

WE can’t afford another right wing activist in the Supreme Court if WE want to protect Roe v Wade, affordable health care, racial and gender-based non-discrimination and more.

WAKE UP and demand that the Republican President and Republican Senators push forth a moderate nominee.

Contact Republican Senators at www.senate.gov/.../How_to_contact_senators.htm and let them know that WE will mobilize and vote them out in 2018 and 2020!

STEP 4
Electoral college electors will convene in each state to sign off on the presidential and vice presidential votes on December 19th. Find out if your state’s Electoral College voting session is open to the public at https://www.archives.gov/federal-register/electoral-college/key-dates.html  If it is -

WAKE UP and attend!

Don’t disrupt it, but observe how it’s run and observe which electors YOU will need to vote out of state or congressional office in midterm, district, city, and county elections in preparation for the 2020 Electoral College!

STEP 5
March to the polls for every general, midterm, state, city, county or district election from now on!  Never forget where not marching to the polls got us in 2010, 2014 and 2016!

We gotta’ change it yeah,
Just you and me.
