Feds Stimulate - Romney ‘Trumps’ - House Republicans Vacate!

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke recently held a press conference announcing actions  to “combat unemployment” and “stimulate the US economy” calling for Congress to resolve “the fiscal cliff” of automatic spending cuts and tax increases possible next year.

What was Romney’s response?

Romney pulls a Trumpism stating that he will  “fire” Bernanke if he is elected president! (silvermonthly.com) Note that Romney and his Super Pac(ers)  “made a fortune with the help of the Fed’s easy money on Wall Street”. So, it only stands to reason that Romney will, most likely, replace Bernanke with someone of his and his Super Pacs' liking.

What was House Republicans response?

After returning from a five week vacation, House Republican leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) announced another vacation  stating that after next week, the House will “stand in recess until November 13’!?!? (think progress.org/the dailybeast.com). 

According to an article in think progress.org entitled House Republicans Plan Two Month Vacation, Leaving Key Bills Awaiting Action, here is list of critical legislation House Republicans will leave behind when they go on their next vacation:

1. President Obama’s American Jobs Act
2. Violence Against Women Act re-authorization (leaving victims to wait for House action)
3.  Tax cuts for working families
4. Veterans Job Corps Act (to help America’s vets find jobs)
5. Farm Bill (while Midwest farmers face the “worst drought in decades”)
6. Wind tax credit (to renew expiring wind energy tax credit)
7. Sequestration (Steering the US economy towards another “fiscal cliff” by reneging on their  August, 2011 agreement to address budget and spending cuts. Note that House Republicans' 2011 refusal to compromise nearly shut down the government and caused our national credit rating to drop.)
