The main goal of Romney's Watchers is to discourage you from voting by slowing down the voting process; spreading misinformation about how, when and where to vote, and intimidating eligible voters who are likely to vote for President Obama on November 6th, but there are ways to outsmart them listed at the end of this post.

Poll watching is the Romney Campaign's fifth line of offense to suppress the vote. First it was falsely associating voter fraud with photo ID's when actual voter fraud was being committed by Republican Party associates like Strategic Allied Consulting accused of destroying Democrat voter registration forms and signing multiple voter registration forms in someone else's name. Then there was voter suppression laws pushed by Republican governors, Republican state legislators, Republican election officials, and Republican attorney generals followed by their unsuccessful attempts to deny you the right to vote in the courts. Then there was a Republican run election office distributing bi-lingual election notices telling Hispanic voters to vote on November 8th! Then there was right winger Stephen Einhorn’s Einhorn Family Foundation “voter suppression billboards”. Then there’s Jason Flannary’s CC Advertising flood of anti-Obama text messages. Then there's Republican Florida Governor Rick Scott deliberately shortening early voting hours to discourage voter turnout and now there's this...

...An article at thinkprogress.org by Scott Keyes entitled Exclusive: Romney Campaign Training Poll Watchers to mislead voters in Wisconsin reports that volunteers were instructed to "hide their affiliation with the Romney campaign and told to sign in at the polls as a "concerned citizen". Their goal is to intimidate and slow up the voting process by falsely challenging individuals who are most likely voting for Obama.

True the Vote is another Romney Campaign voting suppression machine. True the Vote is a "spin off of the King Street Patriots Texas Tea Party". It gained notoriety during the 2008 and 2010 elections for "harassing and intimidating Houston voters." True the Vote's National Elections Coordinator, Bill Ouren, described how voters should feel while "under the gaze of True Vote observers" - "like driving and seeing the police following you." The worst part about True the Vote is its association with Republican Party elected officials and organizations such as Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart, US Representative Ted Poe, Governor Rick Perry, Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Secretary of State Scott Gessler, the Heritage Foundation and Deputy Attorney General Cynthia Coffman.
