Ohhhhh SNAP!

Tea Partied House Republicans’ plan to muddy a Farm Bill in order to  sneak in a $2 billion cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP  was, recently,  rejected on a vote of 234-195!
SNAP provides nutritional support to infants,   children, the working poor, the elderly, the disabled, the unemployed and middle class families that are suffering from the Tea Partied Republican Sequester Fester!
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), who voted for the bill, couldn’t wait to sprint to the microphones and “blame the Democrats for his Republican majority’s defeat – I kid you not!?!?!
One of the most vocal Tea Partied lawmakers in support of the Farm Bill’s “increase of crop insurance subsides to rich farmers” while cutting SNAP is  Representative Stephen Fincher (R-TN) who is the second most heavily subsidized farmer in Congress!
Mr. Fincher justified (?) is attack on needy Americans with the misguided Bible verse “Anyone unwilling to work should not eat”!
Somebody needs to educate Mr. Fincher about the fact that SNAP benefits America’s 8.9 million “working poor”, and  the fact that child labor laws are still in effect!
According to the SNAP – Think Progress article entitled Five Essential Facts about Food Stamps…
  1. The majority of SNAP recipients are children or elderly-and many work.
  2. SNAP is critical to keeping families out of poverty.
  3. SNAP responds to meet increased need during economic downturns.
  4. SNAP benefits the economy
  5. Cuts to SNAP would devastate low-income families.

Tea Partied House Republicans need to SNAP out of it!
Continue reminding them to…
Pass the President’s American Jobs Act and end the sequester at …
