is the perfect push for us to make Labor Day 2013 count!
President
Obama submitted the Stimulus package to Congress in 2009. House Representatives passed the stimulus
with zero support from Tea Partied Republicans.
The US
unemployment rate dropped from 9.9% to
7.4% under the Stimulus with more than 4,500,000
jobs added in 27 consecutive months
of job growth. The Stimulus not
only created jobs, it is considered “to
be greatest turn around in American history” following a complete collapse of the housing
market; failure of the banking system, a credit crunch and a collapse of the
stock market which led to an employment crisis that further collapsed the
economy at the end of eight years of

that in addition to the Stimulus, Tea
Partied Republican congressional lawmakers(?) obstructed a total of 17 jobs

President Obama submitted the American Jobs Act to Congress for
passage in 2011. Tea Partied House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia stated that the
Republican-led US House of Representatives “would not move forward for a vote”
on the Act (examiner.com)
President Obama submitted the
Bring Jobs Home Act to Congress in 2012. The Act would provide a 20%
tax break for the costs of companies and corporations moving jobs back to the
United States. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell
of Kentucky squashed the bill before the vote with filibustered, Tea Partied amendments to repeal the health care reform law and to extend Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy. (cnn.com)
The purpose of the American Jobs Act is to “put more people back to work and put more
money in the pockets of working Americans.” The Act cannot become a reality
until it is passed by Congress.
The American Jobs Act will put people to work rehabilitating
homes, businesses and communities. It will provide job opportunities for low-income
youth and adults through subsidized employment; innovative training programs
and summer/year-round jobs for youth. It will modernize over 35,000 schools
from science labs and internet-ready classrooms to renovated facilities. It will provide $50 billion in immediate investments for highways, transit, rail and
aviation. It will put hundreds of thousands of construction workers back on the
job.
The American Jobs Act will
prevent layoffs of up to 280,000 teachers, while supporting
the hiring of tens of thousands more and keeping cops and firefighters on the
job.
The American Jobs Act will
assist long-term unemployed Americans by providing displaced workers with
temporary, voluntary work; on-the-job training, and reemployment assistance for
the long-term unemployed.
The American Jobs Act will
provide tax relief to help small businesses start and expand.
The American Jobs Act will extend unemployment
insurance benefits to prevent 5 million Americans looking for work from losing
their benefits.
