After plunging the government
into a $24 billion debt with a shut
down over Obamacare, Tea Partied Republican lawmakers(?) wreaked more havoc on Americans and the US
economy by letting automatic sequestered cuts to SNAP go into effect on November 1st,
and the only nightly news covering it is MSNBC!
According to an article at media
matters.org entitled REPORT:
The Food Stamp Cuts the Media Won’t Tell You About…
…SNAP cuts will take food out of
the mouths of 900,000 veterans
…SNAP cuts will take food out of
the mouths of 21 million infants and
children
…SNAP cuts will take food out of
the mouths of 9 million seniors and
people with disabilities.
…SNAP cuts will have a
devastating impact on the working poor
cutting their benefits to $1.40 per meal.
…SNAP cuts will lead to job losses.
Each $1 billion dollar reduction in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program eliminates 13,218 jobs
mostly in food-related industries.
…SNAP cuts will deliver a blow to
economic recovery. Every dollar of SNAP
benefits creates at least $1.70 in economic activity.
Doesn’t it seem a bit hypocritical that Tea
Partied Republican lawmakers(?) made such
a big deal over their shutdown of veteran memorials while they think so little
about those same veterans not being
able to put food on the table for themselves or their families!?!?!
