At a minimum….

While President Obama, Democratic congressional lawmakers and state legislators are doing everything within their powers to increase the minimum wage, Tea Partied Republican congressional lawmakers(?) continue to oppose any increase in minimum wage!

President Obama used the full extent of his Executive Order powers on the matter to increase the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.10 per hour for government workers. (bostonglobe.com)

The President’s Executive Order backs legislative actions introduced earlier this year by Democratic congressional lawmakers Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), and Rep. George Miller (D-Cal) (huffingtonpost.com)

Twelve states and the District of Columbia will be considering minimum wage hikes this year through legislation or ballot initiatives (Visit Campaigns-Raise the Minimum Wage link below)

Why are Tea Partied Congressional lawmakers(?) refusing to take action on  the matter?

According to an article at smallbusiness.chron.com entitled The Advantages of Minimum Wage…

1. A minimum wage increase will help working parents support their families.
2. A minimum wage increase will decrease the need for public assistance resulting in a lower tax burden for communities and states.
3. A minimum wage increase will enable small business persons to create new jobs based on the knowledge of what they will be expected to pay per hour.
4. A minimum wage increase makes the hiring process easier for young or unskilled workers and employers. The worker knows upfront what kind of wage he/she can expect and the employer does not have to go through the process of negotiating a wage with a new employee.

If Tea Partied Republican lawmakers(?) refuse to take action, WE can!
