- Collect and distribute clothes at a local homeless shelter
- Help prepare and/or distribute meals at a local food bank
- Read a favorite poem or book to a nursing home resident
- Invite a vet and his/her family to your Labor Day celebration
- Donate at a local blood bank
- Help a friend conduct a job search
- Volunteer your services at a local charity event
- Contact a local disaster relief organization and help out where needed
- Read a newspaper or book to a visually impaired friend or neighbor
- Plant flowers, shrubs or trees in your neighborhood
- Run or walk in a charity race
