A Labor Day Pay Day!


Did you know that the estimated dollar value of volunteer time is $20.25 and that if each of America’s estimated 155 million men and women volunteers gave only one hour to a great cause on Labor Day, they would be donating the equivalent of $3.14 billion to that cause? Be a part of it!

Collect and distribute clothes at a local homeless shelter
Help prepare and/or distribute meals at a local food bank
Read a favorite poem or book to a nursing home resident
Invite a vet and his/her family to your Labor Day celebration
Donate at a local blood bank
Help a friend conduct a job search
Volunteer your services at a local charity event
Contact a local disaster relief organization and help out where needed
Read a newspaper or book to a visually impaired neighbor
Plant flowers, shrubs or trees in your neighborhood
Run or walk in a charity race
Visit a rehabilitation center. Volunteer to help.
Collect used paperbacks and novels to donate to libraries, shelters, and schools.
Set up an online tutoring program with a local school district
Lend a hand at the office of a local environmental group
Walk a dog at a local animal shelter
Bring toys to a children’s ward at a local hospital
Take photos at a local charitable event and donate the pictures to the sponsoring organization.
