levels in the 2010 and 2014 Midterm Elections!
The consequences were big!
A Republican Congress that made every effort to demean their President as well as block every single presidential initiative to improve our country’s social, economic, educational and diplomatic growth.
Republican-led states that slashed job opportunities, promoted lax assault weapon controls, the denial of voting rights, the denial of affordable health care, the denial of women’s reproductive rights; education funding cuts; the slashing of social service funding for infants, children, senior citizens, veterans, the disabled, and the poor, and sacrificing the middle class and the poor to pad the pockets of their corporate puppet masters.
And when it came to voting rights…
After conservative Supreme Court Justices eviscerated the Voting Rights Act in 2013, it strengthened the GOP Block the Vote Agenda targeting the voting rights of students, senior citizens, women, the disabled, minorities, Latinos, African Americans, Native Americans, and the economically disadvantaged.
If you had any doubts about how hypocritical and unapologetic Republican politicians are about denying the Constitutional right to vote, think about it. Republican politicians love to evoke the misinterpreted Constitutional right to carry guns, but could care less about the Constitutional right to vote!
Heck, every
single Republican 2016 presidential candidate who held or is,
currently, in public office participated in voter suppression tactics in some
form or fashion! (Sounds unbelievable, but the raw evidence is in the Correct the Record link below.)
Adding insult to injury, Republican congressional lawmakers(???), governors, state election officials, attorney generals, and state legislators are:
- Purging Democratic voters from registration rosters;
- Shutting down Democratic polling sites;
- Stripping voting machines from Democratic polling sites
- Gerrymandering voting districts so that Republican candidates can run unopposed,
- Instituting Jim Crow poll tax tactics so that the economically disadvantaged can’t afford to vote,
- Denying college student ID’s in favor of gun licenses for identification purposes. The list goes on and on!
