President Obama’s Gun Safety Proposals and the GOP Insane Asylum Inmates’ Response

President Obama unveiled a “wide-ranging plan for executive and legislative action to curb gun violence” yesterday.

Inmates of the GOP Insane Asylum who are clamoring for NRA “A+ ratings” and big time NRA campaign contributions are either functionally illiterate or just plain stupid because if they actually read and/or comprehended the Second Amendment  or  the President’s proposals, they wouldn’t be making ignorant threats and statements such as those listed below:

Tea Partied House Representative Steve Stockman of Texas threatened “to impeach President Obama should the administration use executive power to implement gun violence prevention efforts”;  Tea Partied Senator Marco Rubio of Florida  said he would “oppose the president’s attempts to undermine Americans’ constitutional right to bear arms";  Tea Partied House Representative Pete Olson of Texas criticized the President for “offering a failed, illogical action;  Tea Partied Steve Pearce of N.M.  wrote “the president’s plan approaches the problem of gun violence from the wrong direction”; Tea Partied Republican Representative Rodney Alexander of Louisiana, who received an “A rating”  from the NRA, wrote “this proposal will not stop criminals from letting their hands on weapons and using them for harm”; Tea Partied Representative Dan Beneshik of Michigan wrote “ the only thing these proposed restrictions would do is prevent law-abiding individuals from protecting their homes, children, and businesses”; Tea Partied Representative Tim Huelshkap of Kansas wrote “the right to bear arms is a right, despite President Obama’s disdain for the Second Amendment”.

How can anyone in their right mind associate the President’s actual Curb Gun Violence proposals to any of the GOP inmates’ insane interpretations listed above?

Highlights of the President’s Proposals to Curb Gun Violence
  1. Renew a prohibition on assault weapon sales the expired in 2004
  2. Require criminal background checks on all gun purchases, including closing a loophole for gun show sales
  3. Pass a new federal gun trafficking law – long sought by big-city mayors to keep out –of-state guns off the streets
  4. Lifting the ban on federal research on gun violence
  5. Putting more counselors and resource officers in schools and better access to mental health services
  6. Limiting high-capacity ammunition magazines
  7. Requiring background checks for all gun buyers in an attempt to close the “gun show loophole” that allows people to buy guns at trade shows and over the Internet without submitting to background checks
  8. Ordering tougher penalties for people who lie on background checks and requiring federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system
  9. Ending limits that make it more difficult for the government to research gun violence, such as gathering data on guns that fall into criminal hands
  10. Requiring federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
  11. Giving schools flexibility to use federal grant money to improve school safety, such as by hiring school resource officers.
  12. Giving communities grants to institute programs to keep guns away from people who shouldn’t have them.
